Such damage is mostly caused by forklift trucks, pallet trucks, or transport wagons. The damage caused particularly relates to the skirting board area, which is often made of wooden strips and which therefore require regular replacement. In addition, wooden strips are inappropriate for hygiene reasons. As an alternative, expensive stainless steel can be installed, but this is not practical due to in-house circumstances and the price.
Wood is visually appealing and is easy to process, but it does little to counteract the damages caused by rain or cold weather. Only time-consuming care helps against rotting. Concrete, on the other hand, can withstand a lot, but the material is not perfectly suited for many applications. Concrete draws water, gets unsightly edges and eventually begins to burst. Steel can be used flexibly, but rust and little flexibility are the disadvantages here. Stainless steel would be a rust-free alternative, but the costs are not in relation to the intended use if the use is a protective strip.
